PHOTOGRAPHY and ART

The short version? I like to take pictures, create art, and design things.

The longer one? In 1991, my dad bought me my first camera, a lens, and a bag. I was off and running, capturing images, making mistakes and in the old days anxiously waiting until the film was processed to see what I had captured. Complimenting my love for travel and adventure, and thirst for new experiences, my camera has gone with me almost everywhere. My jobs have varied over the years: from summer sailing instructor, firefighter, 911 dispatcher, seven years of working for an air medical helicopter, a few years as a bartender, a few more years as transfer center coordinator at a children's hospital, and currently: account manager for an IT health company. The most consistent (and during some stretches, the most rewarding) part has definitely been my camera. My goals are simple: first, capture meaningful images I come across throughout my day. Second, go after high risk, high profile shots in the spirit of work, adventure, exploration and story telling.  Along the way, continue to grow my collection of images while transitioning further in to the world of digital SLR, mirrorless, medium format, and fine art street photography.

ENTREPENURSHIP and BUSINESS

My dad always called me the "Guy With a Million Ideas". What he never called me was "The Guy Who Followed Through on Everything". That is mostly due to me either not finding or picking a few of those ideas or not doing ALL the hard work necessary to see them through to completion. I could spend far too much time trying to figure out all the reasons why this was. What I do know is I now have just a few very solid ideas that I am passionate enough about to not only move forward, but see them through to however far I can take them. Although they don't have a primary focus on philanthropy, they will of course each have charitable aspects.

FITNESS  ("BETTER FITTING PANTS")

If you are food, then you know that I have an unhealthy relationship with you. You know that I have, can and might at any time pick you up and eat you...sometimes at inappropriate times and often with no concern for moderation or the repercussions. If you are my pants, then you know that "we don't quite fit" right now, and some of you probably feel all but abandoned. Not including my time as an infant, my weight has fluctuated between 177 and 232 pounds, with 180-185 being the weight I feel my best. Simply put, I'm fat...and that's about to change.

ACTING and VOICE OVER  WORK

For a number of years, I have dabbled in acting and voice over work, mostly on commercial and industrial projects. My goal is simply to shift that focus to more character and story-based projects. Some of this is of course tied in to getting in best possible physical shape. The remainder of the hard work will be focused on an almost complete overhaul and redirection of my skill set.

SCOTT'S ASKING

What am I asking for? Strange looks? An anxiety producing list of unanswered emails? Piles of rejection? Yup, pretty much all that.

But more so, the opportunity to pursue, experience, and achieve things by combining a lot of hard work, creative problem solving, and sometimes simply just asking for it. It involves some that are truly unimaginable, some seemingly unachievable, and some, just day to day. From getting in the best shape of my life to a philanthropic photo project involving all living U.S. President, it's one part “what is he thinking” another part “no way he pulls that off” and one part “holy...., I can’t believe he just…”

The worst they can say is no, the best they can say is yes and the most entertaining might just be found somewhere in the middle. The bar is set high but so is the crash mat. Come along and be entertained by who says no, shocked by who says yes and maybe even a bit inspired at what we can achieve...simply by asking.
